    1. No you will not receive a stimulus check. Anyone over the age of 17 that was claimed as a dependent on a 2019 tax return is not eligible for the first or second stimulus check. Sorry to be bearer of bad news I wish you good luck in these troubling times.

    2. Yes you do have to file a tax return even if you never did before. Simply go to turbo tax and file for free. Answer the questions one by one and you will be done in no time. You will need the the form SSI sends you every year giving you your benefit total for the year. I think its Form SSA-1099
You will also need a state ID and bank account information for direct deposit to get your money faster.
      Hope this helps!
      Good luck.

Supplemental income and have direct deposit but have yet to receive anything. I have a daughter who is 20 and she received her check right away. Please explain why she got hers and I who is disabled got nothing. I’ve even called and still no answers. They all said the same thing, that it’s coming and not worry. Well I’m worried. How can I get my stimulus? I struggle day to day cause I’m on a set income and this would’ve been extremely helpful. If anyone knows anything about how to get your stimulus would be helpful and I’d be extremely grateful. Thank you

  6. Hello there!
My mom mistakenly checked the “can be claimed as a dependent” box while filing the non-filers application, and she put all the family members under the same dependent status of this same application, although that my sisters and I file our taxes independently. It was a honest mistake, we were never dependent on anyone, I tried contacting the IRS and they suggested filing a 1040X amended return to adjust the dependency status. That was back in July, and I haven’t heard back yet. I think it is so unfair that because of that mistake all the family members including me are not eligible for the stimulus check that we really NEED anymore.
Please advise me on anything I can do to solve this and if there’s any hope we would be able to get our money even if while filing tax returns later.
    THANK YOU SO MUCH!

    1. I did the same thing, I accidentally put can be claimed as a dependent when I am the dependent. I’m also disabled. I changed it and unmarked can be claimed as a dependent but still have not received nothing. I also had it direct deposit but they should have had that info considering my SSI monthly payments are direct deposit. My daughter received hers right away. It’s now December and nothing. It really is upsetting and quite unfair that I haven’t received nothing and many others as well. Being disabled is quite hard cause you’re on a set income and money is extremely limited. That stimulus check for $1200 would have helped me out tremendously cause I struggle day to day. Just know you and your family are not alone on this. The people who actually really needed the stimulus check are the ones who got screwed and left out in the cold. It’s a damn shame how unorganized and absolutely unfair our government is.

    1. No you need to file yourself and list any of children 17 years of age and under and you will receive your stimulus check plus an additional 500 dollars for every dependent 17 or under. So for example if you have 2 children 17 or under you would receive your stimulus payment plus 500 for one child then another 500 for the second child which would make your first stimulus check $2,200

If your not eligible for a stimulus check because you make to much money then not receiving $500 dollars isnt going to hurt you much, greed is obviously in play here. Just saying the truth as I see it and I’m sure others see it the same way. People like this is why our country is in the shape it is now, it’s time for people like this to start giving back but all they want to do is take take take.

Just go through the proper procedures as lines out on the irs.gov website to receive a payment or file a 2020 tax return even if you made $0 in 2020 you can still file to get your stimulus payments.

First, thank you for all this information. Maybe you can guide me… My mom receives ssdi and has for several years. SSDI and pension is her only “income” and she does not file taxes. It is converting to just SSI in July. She is 65 no young children, dad passed in April due to covid, if that makes a difference. She has not received her stimulus check yet, and the site continues to give no update, Should I file at freetaxusa for her so she can get her check? Given circumstances, she could really use the help of the stimulus check right now. Her information on SS is all up to date on correct. Thank you for your help, it’s very much appreciated.

Our son made about $12k for the 2019 tax year. He still has NOT received his stimulus for $1,200.00. Is there a reason he would not get the stimulus? He filed with H&R Block and received his refund fast via direct deposit. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Like

    1. Did he have his refund sent to H & R block’s debit/credit card or was it sent to a bank acct? If it was sent to their card, you will have to go through the paperwork to put in the real acct number for the card. H & R Block sets up a temp acct for IRS to deposit the money into, then when H & R Block will take their fees then deposit the money onto the card. So just find the acct number for the card and change the info needed on the IRS website.

How do you claim your babies that you have full custody of and the missing dad is getting their stimulus money because he claimed them on his previous taxes and is keeping the stimulus money for the 4 and 5 year old. How do you correct this problem? It is not right he has never paid child support or helped with schooling clothing nothing. He doesn’t even see them except if they are lucky 2 to 3 times per year and usually for only 1 day at that. Their Mom is single parent. This is a Great Grandma of the boys asking. This just isn’t right.

    3. I know this isn’t what you will want to hear but if you apply for child support enforcement on him then every year his tax returns and any stimulas checks or anything (besides inheritence or a settlement) will ALL be sent to you. If they find they actually owe him for several years of taxes or something random like winning the lottery. He doesn’t see one red cent until his entire back child support is paid. If none of those things happens and he continues to not pay they will report it on his credit, *Say he makes approx $2500 of HOH credit on each child he claims (if he makes around 30k) You can ALSO make a claim with the IRS that you have the right to claim your children, and because they never see him or spend any overnights at him or his home, he is qualified to claim them. The IRS will re-issue you the funds based off your tax returns. Than he will owe the IRS whatever he was given from them. On top of that when you get a child support order established (I am guessing you do not have a child support order or I assume you would have been in contact by CS enforcement. Because they will intercept his tax returns, eventually non payment will lead to going back to court and being told he has to pay an additional $150 every month towards his back child support owed from not paying. So typically a few years later this leads to his license being suspended. Then if he still is not paying, they will eventually order us to court where he is a chance to offer me an amount of money (a portion of the back child support debt and I could leave the court house with that money in my hands (tempting when you have never had any kind of child support) I personally accepted the money, the first time! Then I realized by doing that he took it as a slap on the wrist. He decided to continue to not pay. So I decided next time I wouldn’t take anything but the full amount. Because I thought spending time in jail would make him come to his senses and begin paying. I can’t tell you how disappointing it was when he was ordered to 180 days in the local Jail or he would have to pay of his entire debt. Usually by this time they are several thousand dollars behind in child support. (He was like 14k behind) However, his mother contacted her sisters and brothers and they came together and come up with the money and he never even went to the jail his mom had it paid and they left the courthouse together just a few minutes after I left.. Boy it took 2 years to get to that point (only for him to be so quickly bailed out) he again gets a slap on the wrist when I Imagined for the first time he would face some actual consequences he would have to deal with. Wow don’t even know where all that came from 🤯😄

I got my stimulis check (I did not get the $500 for each of my kids) I did randomly just got a 1200 payment from the treasury in my daughter’s account. All you have to do is go to the 1 website that asks you if you would like to file, but you can select no to filing but still request your stimulis. I believe if your daughter DID claim you this year you probably wouldn’t have received a stimulis check. So that’s a plus.

  33. I am on SSDI and have NOT yet received stimulus direct deposit for myself or my spouse or my kids. I did file 2019 taxes. U R saying we need to sign up for our kids. I went to IRS website, but there are only 2 links. One to check the status which says they don’t have my information and the other link is for non filers. Where should I add my kids. The other link for non filers is used to file taxes if U have not filed them.
