Special Notes for Disabled Adult Children Who are Working

If you are receiving Disabled Adult Child benefits (Social Security from one of your parents) and you go back to work, it can be a bit complicated to understand which rules you need to learn and follow.

For Social Security

💮 For your Social Security check, you just follow the same rules as a person on SSDI. Find these rules here: How to Work Without (Too Much) Trouble

For Medicare

💮 There is nothing special to learn. As long as your Social Security check continues, Medicare will continue.

For Medicaid

If you are also on Medicaid, it gets more complicated. Depending on what form of Medicaid you are receiving.

💮 If you are receiving Medicaid under the rules for Disabled Adult Child who is a former SSI recipient, then you may have to follow the SSDI rules, plus follow the SSI rules, too. Learn more about this form of Medicaid here: How To Navigate Disabled Adult Child Benefits. Learn the SSI rules here: How to Work Without (Too Much) Trouble

💮 Another option is to find a different form of Medicaid to qualify for. See below to learn more about other forms. Learn more: How to Get or Keep Medicaid While Working with Disabilities
